With over a decade’s editing experience in film and television, David Abelson has amassed an extensive list of credits on numerous projects. After earning his degree in Film Production at the University of Iowa, Abelson moved to New York in 1997 and cut his teeth at Post Perfect (Assistant Editor) and Gun For Hire/Shooting Gallery (Editor). In 2002, Abelson worked as an Assistant Editor and Conforming Editor on Godfrey Reggio’s Naqoyqatsi, the final installment of the modern classic Qatsi Trilogy. Distributed by Miramax and scored by renowned composer Philip Glass, the film featured Stephen Soderbergh as Executive Producer.
Since 2003, Abelson has edited a number of television shows for a wide range of networks including ABC, MTV, VH1, A&E, CNBC, ESPN2, and The Learning Channel. Having recently finished episodes for The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, Abelson is currently parlaying his storytelling abilities and collaboration skills with MTV, working in development of a new project surrounding the lives of skateboarders. Most recently, Abelson’s editing work can be seen in the feature length documentary P-Star Rising, currently set to premiere at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival.
